About Checkapayer
Checkapayer exists to help improve prompt payment standards across the UK – providing a place where freelances, contractors and any business or individual that supplies another can search, rate and review firms on how quickly and fairly they pay.
Late payments are the scourge of small businesses.
- Research carried out but the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) shows that 440,000 small firms could be forced to close this year due to late payments alone.
- Meanwhile, the Small Business Commissioner says one third of all payments to small businesses are currently paid late – with every late payment averaging £6,142.
- As a result, the Small Business Commissioner says 20% of small businesses have run into cash flow problems due to late payments and, if small businesses were paid on time, the UK economy would benefit by £2.5bn a year.
At Checkapayer, we do not believe it’s fair for small businesses and their owners to be paid late – putting them, their staff and their families under unnecessary stress and financial pressure. We also do not believe firms should receive goods and services and not pay for them.
How Checkapayer works
Anyone can leave a review and score a firm out of five for how well they paid their invoice – and anyone can view a firm’s rating simply by searching them from our home page.
We encourage users to leave honest and accurate reviews – good and bad – to give others a genuine insight into a firm’s record on prompt payment.
To ensure reviews are from genuine individuals, users will be asked to log-in via a social channel or manually before leaving their first review. Every user’s first review will go through a verification process before being added to the site. This will be completed within 48 hours of posting.
Each user can post up to two posts for any business in a single 30-day period. This is to avoid users ‘spam rating’ a business.
